Leidos Transportation Solutions division is hiring a Software Engineer for the UK NATS Flight Data Processing (FDP) Evolution project, delivering enhanced capabilities to replace the current operational system for the UK NATS organization. Be part of a dynamic team driving mission-critical aviation innovations.
Locations & Work Model
Positions available in Gaithersburg, MD; Eagan, MN; or Egg Harbor, NJ. Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote from home office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Handle software development, writing/maintaining source code, and solving complex technical issues individually and collaboratively.
- Lead junior developers, influencing solution design and team processes.
- Engage in daily stand-ups, release planning, and agile team activities.
- Analyze system requirements using design tools, specifications, data flow diagrams, ensuring code is efficient, reliable, and reusable.
- Manage software processes, promote code reuse, foster collaboration, and minimize maintenance costs.
- Develop, tune, and document automation scripts for test/production environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field + 8+ years experience.
- Public trust clearance eligibility.
- Expertise in OOP, C/C++, real-time/high-availability programming, multi-threading, RedHat OS customization, hypervisors/VMs, CAS/hardware integration, low-level comms (TCP-IP/UDP/SCTP), system maintenance.
- Proficiency in source control/config management; strong dev principles; task planning/communication skills; independent fast-paced performer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ada programming.
- AI/ML in development processes.
- Test automation experience.
