Join Leidos as a Software Engineer in San Diego, CA

Leidos is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our innovative team designing embedded electronics for autonomous ocean applications. Collaborate with electrical, computer, and mechanical engineers on cutting-edge systems from concept to at-sea testing. Work in a medium-sized, motivated government/industry/academia team advancing DoD maritime technology.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Partner with integrated teams to define software requirements and evaluate designs.
  • Build maintainable, high-performance software with robust build/test processes.
  • Integrate, test, and verify on Linux computers and microcontrollers.
  • Optimize performance and harden systems per DoD standards (DISA STIG, PKI, LUKS).
  • Operate autonomous systems in lab/at-sea environments and perform post-mission analysis.
  • Communicate effectively to coordinate efforts, prioritize tasks, and drive improvements.

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen; SECRET clearance preferred.
  • BS in CS/EE/CE/Physics/Math or STEM; 4+ years experience.
  • Expertise in Linux dev (x64/ARM), C/C++/Python, CMake, Git, unit testing.
  • Hardware testing with lab instruments; technical document proficiency.
  • Travel-ready (1-2 weeks, 4x/year); lift 40lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agile/Scrum experience.
  • Low-level protocols (SPI/I2C/RS232/CAN).
  • RTOS/bare-metal firmware (MPLAB X, JTAG).
  • OpenCV, CUDA, Bash, MATLAB/Octave.
