Job Description

Join Leidos as Sr Transport Network Specialist

Leidos is seeking a Sr Transport Network Specialist to support the Navy's largest IT services program, SMIT (Service Management, Integration, and Transport). Deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Unify shore-based networks to enhance capabilities, improve service delivery, and achieve significant cost savings through a single enterprise network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as technical expert for transport vendor solutions and engineering support.
  • Conduct reach-back to vendor R&D teams for optimal production designs.
  • Develop and engineer networking/transport solutions.
  • Plan upgrades, replacements, configurations, and maintenance for transport projects.
  • Design secure, efficient transport systems, architecture, and topology.
  • Participate in NMCI IT modernization, expansion, and improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with experts to synthesize transport solutions.
  • Lead analysis, review, and validation with customers and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external customers, management, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Comply with ITSM, MBSE governance, and DoD cybersecurity standards (DoDI 8500.01, DON 5239).
  • Develop/maintain engineering processes and mentor junior staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in similar programs.
  • Active Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship.
  • Expertise in BAN/LAN/WLAN/WAN, cross-domain solutions, COMSEC, piers connectivity.
  • DoD networks experience; enterprise IT environment design.
  • Security+ or DoD 8570 compliant certification.
  • Strong collaboration, analytical, and multitasking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Navy/DoD program experience; CCNA/CCNP, INCOSE CSEP, ITIL, CISSP certifications. Shift: Mon-Fri 0900-1700. Travel required.

  • Serve as technical expert for transport vendor solutions
  • Perform solution development and engineering for networking/transport
  • Lead planning of upgrades, configurations, and maintenance projects
  • Engineer secure transport systems and topologies
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on NMCI transport projects
  • Ensure compliance with DoDI 8500.01 and DON 5239 cybersecurity standards
  • Mentor junior team members and review their work
  • Support IT modernization and expansion initiatives
