Join Leidos as SRE Automation Engineer Intern
Leidos seeks a summer intern with Computer Science background for the SMIT contract—Navy's largest IT services program delivering NMCI backbone, cybersecurity, network ops, service desk, and data transport. Unify shore-based networks, enhance capabilities, and drive cost savings via enterprise network. Support Azure DevOps projects in 50% telework role; must be local to Norfolk VA, Jacksonville FL, Bremerton WA, San Diego CA, or Honolulu HI.
Primary Responsibilities
- Automate tasks, updates; document testing procedures (functional, integration, security, load/stress).
- Deliver automated acceptance/integration/regression testing for new apps/capabilities.
- Develop/test Ansible playbooks/roles in non-prod; migrate to production.
- Create work instructions for automation/orchestration; leverage AI for code creation/optimization.
- Build/manage CI/CD pipelines; integrate AI insights for efficient delivery.
- Implement security in dev/deployment; ensure compliance/standards.
- Maintain config consistency via Ansible/Puppet/Chef.
- Plan server/database/tool upgrades/maintenance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally; adhere to ITSM/DoD 8500.01/DON 5239 cybersecurity.
Basic Qualifications
- CS (or similar) degree program enrollment; GPA 3.0+.
- Coding experience; AI tools familiarity.
- US citizen; clearance eligible; Security+ path for DoD 8570 IAT II.
Preferred Qualifications
- Azure DevOps expertise (Pipelines, Repos, Boards, Artifacts).
- CI/CD design/maintenance (Azure/Jenkins).
- Cloud security best practices (IAM, encryption, compliance).
- Scripting (PowerShell/Bash) + programming (Python/Ruby).
- AI-driven code/testing tools.
