Join Leidos as SRE Technical Manager - Transport

Leidos is seeking a dynamic SRE Technical Manager to lead our Transport Site Reliability Engineering team on the Navy's largest IT services program, the Service Management Integration and Transport (SMIT) Contract. Oversee the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet, delivering cybersecurity, network operations, and data transport excellence from Norfolk, VA.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

Manage 5-6 SRE pods comprising 60+ full-time engineers. Set performance expectations, mentor staff through code reviews, and drive professional growth. Own P&L for the Transport vertical, handling budgeting, tool selection, and infrastructure investments to ensure scalability and reliability.

Drive Reliability and Innovation

Champion SLOs, error budgets, MTTR, and MTBF metrics. Collaborate with operations, cybersecurity, and product teams to automate toil reduction, implement IaC, and mature CI/CD pipelines. Lead incident response, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Agile practices.

Strategic Impact

Report to the Director of SRE, shaping long-term strategy. Act as liaison to senior leadership, prioritizing reliability in product development. Ensure compliance with security policies while fostering a culture of innovation on this high-stakes defense IT mission.
