Supplier Quality Engineer – Airworthiness at Leidos
Join Leidos Europe on the Logistics Commodities Services Transformation (LCST) programme in Bristol, UK. This hybrid role (1-2 office days weekly) offers UK and potential overseas travel, reporting to the Air Safety Compliance & Assurance Lead.
Role Overview
As Supplier Quality Engineer, manage assurance and improvement for Aerospace/Airworthiness elements. Drive the audit programme with internal, external, and supplier audits. Act as primary contact for Supplier Quality – Air communications. Drive quality and compliance culture in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain airworthiness quality systems; analyse ISO 9001 to AS9100/9120 gaps.
- Ensure organisation-wide adherence to quality processes with supply chain flow-down.
- Conduct 1st/2nd party audits, produce improvement-focused reports.
- Handle supplier escalations/interventions.
- Implement procedures exceeding programme standards.
- Validate controls with stakeholders; report performance.
- Support audits with documentation access.
- Build stakeholder relationships for continuous improvement.
- Deliver quality training; deputise at working groups.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- ISO9001/9100 Lead Auditor certification.
- Level 4 Engineering qualification or equivalent.
- Engineering quality assurance/auditing experience.
- CQP MCQI or Quality Practitioner.
Desired Skills
- MOD contracts, AQAP, Defence Standards experience.
- MAA and RAs knowledge.
- Six Sigma/Lean tools.
- Power BI, SharePoint, MS Office, Jira proficiency.
Clearance & Location
BPSS to start, SC required, UK citizenship. Hybrid in Bristol with travel.

- SC clearance required (must be achievable) (experience)
- UK citizenship (experience)
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance systems for airworthiness, analysing gaps between ISO 9001 and AS9100/9120
- Communicate across organisation to ensure quality management systems and procedures are followed, with supply chain flow-down
- Perform 1st and 2nd party audits against ISO 9001/AS9100, delivering value-adding reports for continuous improvement
- Manage air-related supplier escalations and interventions
- Develop procedures for assuring quality products/services in Defence air domain, improving processes to exceed standards
- Coordinate with stakeholders for validation of quality procedures, monitor performance against contractual standards
- Support Defence audits by providing documents, data, and access to materials
- Build stakeholder relationships for continuous improvement framework
- Deliver quality awareness training
- Deputise for Air Safety Compliance Lead at LCST Air Safety Working Group
