Gibbs & Cox, a Leidos subsidiary and the largest independent naval architecture firm since 1929, has designed 24 combatant classes and 7,000 vessels. Support U.S. military and global clients in maritime design, construction, and lifecycle management.

Position Overview

Lead the Survivability Department (20+ engineers) specializing in Vulnerability Analysis, Passive Protection, CBRN, Shock, System Restoration, Damage Control, Vibration, and Electromagnetic Effects. Primarily remote, ideal candidates near Arlington VA, Philadelphia PA, New York NY, New Orleans LA, Newport News VA, or Houston TX offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage technical and staffing needs in matrixed, multi-project environment.
  • Deliver cradle-to-grave support: concept through post-delivery.
  • Ensure QA-compliant products on time/budget; create BOEs.
  • Develop processes, mentor staff, implement CAE tools.
  • Attract/hire talent; interact with customers on technical/programmatic matters.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years maritime engineering; 2+ years management.
  • B.S. Engineering (M.S. preferred), PE licensure.
  • U.S. Citizen, Secret Clearance eligible.
  • Proven leadership, communication, problem-solving skills.

  • U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain Secret Clearance (experience)
  • Proven customer interaction on technical/programmatic issues (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead 20+ engineers across multiple locations in survivability disciplines
  • Maintain staffed, trained organization for specialty engineering needs
  • Oversee cradle-to-grave support from concept to post-delivery
  • Ensure accurate, on-time, budgeted products per QA program
  • Produce manhours and Basis of Estimates for future work
  • Develop engineering processes and methodologies
  • Mentor/train staff and monitor quality goals
  • Implement advanced CAE tools and technologies
  • Attract, hire, and retain qualified team members
