Join Leidos' Defense Systems Program Integration team in Huntsville, AL, delivering innovative solutions for land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace missions. Our diverse, talented teams empower customers with 'can't fail' security solutions, from IT and intelligence systems to command/control and cybersecurity.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support 1-3 programs simultaneously in a 40-hour week, balancing physics-based modeling, simulation, and hardware development (classified/unclassified).
  • Independently derive tasking from contracts/customer needs, producing safety artifacts per MIL-STD-882E.
  • Conduct hazard analyses (PHA, FHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, EHA, HHA, FTA, FMEA) using safety tools/databases.
  • Collaborate in matrixed environment across systems engineering, MBSE, and specialties; transition between programs.
  • Communicate effectively with non-safety stakeholders; prepare for Army Safety Boards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s (ABET-accredited) in relevant engineering field +8 years or MS +6 years.
  • MIL-STD-882E familiarity; requirements derivation experience.
  • Secret clearance; collaborative team skills; Huntsville-area residency or relocation willingness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Safety/System Engineering +4 years direct experience.
  • Army regs (AR 385-10/16, AR 770-3, AMCOM 385-17); Safety Board processes.
  • Proficiency in hazard tracking, MBSE, requirements databases.

  • Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area (experience)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E application (experience)
  • Experience deriving requirements for electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, software systems (experience)
  • Proven ability to work independently in matrixed, multi-program environments (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform system safety analysis per MIL-STD-882E and customer requirements across 1-3 simultaneous programs
  • Autonomously define tasking from customer needs and contracts for classified/unclassified efforts in modeling, simulation, hardware
  • Conduct hazard analyses including PHA, FHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, EHA, HHA, FTA, FMEA
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in matrixed organization supporting diverse defense applications
  • Communicate safety approaches to non-expert stakeholders and prepare Army Safety Board artifacts
