Systems Engineer – Lead Undersea Innovation at Leidos

Join Leidos' Undersea Systems Division as a Systems Engineer in Lynnwood, WA, and drive technical leadership across architecture, analysis, integration, and verification for cutting-edge underwater vehicles and unattended sensor systems. This advanced to principal-level role demands hands-on execution and cross-functional leadership throughout the system lifecycle in complex undersea environments.

Your Responsibilities

  • Serve as Systems Engineer, crafting architectures, interfaces, and artifacts across the lifecycle.
  • Lead TEMPALT development, ATO packages, and safety analyses with stakeholders.
  • Develop test strategies, plans, and coordinate multi-team V&V efforts.
  • Provide Technical Data Package oversight for compliance and configuration control.
  • Conduct FMEA/FMECA and ensure mitigation documentation.
  • Leverage Cameo for MBSE in requirements, architecture, and traceability.
  • Integrate hardware, software, and controls into unified solutions.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers while collaborating with customers and teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Ocean), CS, Physics, or Math.
  • 8+ years in subsea or electro-mechanical systems.
  • 8+ years leading integrated teams.
  • DoD technical program exposure.
  • U.S. Citizenship; SECRET clearance eligible.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years leading complex subsea design, development, integration.
  • UUVs, subsea systems, underwater payloads experience.
  • Hands-on TEMPALT, ATO, safety analysis expertise.
  • System testing coordination and Technical Data oversight.
  • Strong FMEA/FMECA background; manufacturing transition success.
  • ISO 9001:2015 familiarity; vehicle software/controls knowledge.
  • DoD contract, financial, subcontractor management exposure.
