Job Description

Systems Engineer - Join Leidos' FAA Surveillance Modernization Team

Leidos is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) critical radar and surveillance modernization efforts through our National Airspace System Implementation Support Contract (NISC) team. In this role, you'll design, test, troubleshoot, and integrate advanced electrical systems to enhance reliability, performance, and maintainability of radar technologies. Ideal for detail-oriented engineers who excel in complex problem-solving, collaboration, and balancing technical innovation with documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering consultation ensuring compliance with FAA and industry standards across system lifecycle phases, from site surveys to implementation.
  • Contribute to project planning, logistics, strategy, and national engineering policy development for radar modernization.
  • Create innovative simulations and graphical solutions using industry-standard software.
  • Oversee National Change Proposals, Configuration Control Board processes, and departmental website management.
  • Design and analyze electrical circuits, components, and subsystems for radar and surveillance.
  • Develop requirements, perform troubleshooting, failure analysis, and support integration/testing.
  • Produce technical documentation like schematics, wiring diagrams, and reports; participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Assist with field installations as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field + 8-12 years experience; or Master’s + 6-10 years.
  • Proven communication skills via academic papers, white papers, or publications.
  • CAD tools experience; deep knowledge of radar, RF, microwave tech.
  • Interdisciplinary teamwork and presentation abilities.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, NFPA, NEC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA work experience and knowledge of FAA/DoD policies.
  • Independent and collaborative worker; strategic thinker for complex problems.
  • High initiative in fast-paced environments; strong organization skills.
