Leidos' Defense Systems Hypersonics Systems Division is seeking a Thermal Protection System Deputy Program Manager to support cutting-edge programs in advanced high-temperature materials and composites manufacturing, characterization, and testing. Join a dynamic 'badge-less' team collaborating with AvMC, Sandia National Labs, Navy, and Army across geographically dispersed sites. Assist the Program Manager in delivering mission-critical hypersonic solutions for national security.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in high-temperature materials with 5+ years managing complex testing and scheduling.
  • Guide daily execution, lead IPT meetings, and track metrics for program success.
  • Manage risks, develop mitigations, and identify capability gaps.
  • Drive change management, including business cases and supply chain assessments.
  • Oversee control accounts: SPI/CPI/TCPI variance, BEI/CEI schedule analysis, BCRs, ETCs, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate multi-functional activities, project plans, resources, and action item tracking for PMRs and customer reviews.

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Engineering or equivalent + 8-12 years experience; Master's + 6-10 years.
  • Proven expertise in composites/high-temp materials programs.
  • Experience with subcontract teams, multi-agency coordination, and hardware projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent with 8-12 years of relevant experience (experience)

  • 5+ years managing testing, planning, and scheduling for complex technical programs (experience)
  • Strong technical background in high temperature materials and/or composite systems (experience)
  • Experience with multi-agency government programs and subcontract management (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Assist Program Manager in leadership of program management functions including planning, tracking, and execution within technical, schedule, and budget constraints
  • Lead IPT meetings, set team expectations, and evaluate program metrics for successful execution
  • Manage risks and opportunities at IPT level, develop mitigation strategies, and identify process improvements
  • Participate in change management, develop business cases, assess supply chain vulnerabilities, and coordinate approved changes
  • Oversight of control accounts including variance analysis (SPI/CPI/TCPI), schedule analysis (BEI/CEI), BCR submittals, ETC generation, and corrective actions
  • Coordinate program activities across functional areas, foster communication, and manage hardware-centric projects
  • Develop and maintain project plans, define tasks/resources, assemble teams, and release work authorizations
  • Prepare informational products for PMRs, senior meetings, customer IPTs, and track action items
