This role involves designing specifications, testing, inspections, upgrades, and modeling hardware/software solutions for robust networks. Key Responsibilities
- Support installation and maintenance of client LAN/WAN devices.
- Respond to and resolve incident tickets efficiently.
- Draft and implement standard network change requests.
- Assist Tier III engineers with incident management, site surveys, TEMS, and new equipment coordination/installation.
- Manage configurations: update topology drawings, ensure asset accuracy, and conduct inventories.
- Coordinate operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades, including Cisco/Juniper RMA processes.
- Leverage Layer 1/2 expertise (CAT5, SM/MM Fiber, Serial, SFP) and configure/troubleshoot Layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, Thin Configs).
- Apply knowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade, Foundry OS, and familiarity with Layer 3 protocols (OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE).
- Utilize tools like Visio, ServiceNow, and Confluence; handle up to 10% COMSEC duties.
Required Qualifications
- TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
- 10 years experience (e.g., HS Diploma + 10 years, Associate + 8 years, Bachelor + 6 years, Master + 4 years, Doctorate + 3 years).
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 compliance.
- Strong TCP/IP, OSI model, and basic routing knowledge.
- 25% travel willingness, valid driver's license, and 5 days/week on-site in Chantilly, VA (no relocation).
