Join Leidos as a Transmission Line Engineer

Leidos is seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced environment tackling challenging electric transmission problems. Work 100% remotely from anywhere in the U.S. on EHV overhead and underground systems for major utilities nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design transmission lines using NESC, ASCE, ACI standards for voltage conversion, new capacity, and replacement projects.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, material procurement, and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with multi-person Leidos teams and interface with clients, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years experience (Bachelor’s) or 1+ years (Master’s) in electric utility transmission design.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • Strong team and independent work skills; excellent communication for clients and teams.
  • Occasional client office work or travel possible.

Desired Skills & Certifications

  • TOWER experience.
  • EIT or PE certification.
  • Familiarity with LPILE, FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Engineer on EHV overhead and underground transmission line design projects
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI and other standards in engineering and design of electrical systems
  • Perform engineering analyses for voltage conversion, new capacity, and infrastructure replacement projects
  • Prepare bidding documents, draft plans and specifications
  • Prepare material procurement and construction documents
  • Interface with clients, project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management personnel
