Job Description

Join Leidos as a Transmission Line Engineer

Leidos is seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced environment, tackling challenging electric transmission projects for major U.S. utilities. Work on high-voltage overhead and underground systems, voltage conversions, new capacity, and infrastructure replacements, applying NESC, ASCE, ACI, and other standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute technical design tasks for transmission lines, ensuring full compliance with codes.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, calculations, bidding documents, and procurement materials.
  • Conduct PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading analyses, and engineering studies.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including project managers, environmental, permitting, and construction staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement using AI, automation, and new tools while tracking project schedules and budgets.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Civil (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering with 2+ years in transmission design.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE; team player with strong communication skills.

Desired Skills

  • TOWER, LPILE/FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD/MicroStation, GIS experience.
  • EIT/PE certification.

Work Locations & Flexibility

Hybrid roles in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey. Fully remote available; relocation to Walled Lake, MI or Cranberry Township, PA offered.

  • Ability to work effectively in team and independently (experience)
  • Willingness to travel or work in client offices periodically (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Execute technical design and engineering tasks for high-voltage transmission lines ensuring compliance with NESC, ASCE, ACI standards
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations under Lead Engineers or Project Managers
  • Perform engineering analyses including PLS-CADD modeling and structure loading calculations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by learning new technical tools, AI, and automation platforms
  • Communicate and coordinate project progress with Project Manager to adhere to schedule and budget
  • Maintain proficiency in industry-standard software and Leidos design processes
  • Support project planning, environmental permitting, and construction management
