Vice President, Growth Strategy and Operations - Defense Systems

Join Leidos as the VP of Growth Strategy and Operations for our Defense Systems Sector (DSS), driving strategic pursuits across space, airborne, land, and sea domains. Report directly to the SVP of Growth and lead initiatives for market expansion, revenue growth, and competitive positioning in national security markets.

Strategy Development Responsibilities

  • Lead DSS strategy development aligned with corporate plans, collaborating with Business Area Growth VPs and cross-sector teams.
  • Build partnerships enterprise-wide, leveraging Office of Technology and Corporate Strategy.
  • Conduct market/customer analysis, competitive intelligence, budget reviews, and technology gap assessments.
  • Monitor market shifts and recommend actions for opportunities or risk mitigation.
  • Support organic/inorganic growth including M&A, JVs, and customer engagements.

Growth Operations Responsibilities

  • Track key metrics like new business funds, pipeline growth, awards, and submits for SVP and VPs.
  • Oversee planning, gate reviews, win theme workshops, color reviews, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure Gate Review Process compliance and action closure across Business Areas.
  • Drive process improvements and tool optimization for dashboards and metrics.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's + 15+ years BD/Growth/Strategy experience; 12+ years leading teams.
  • DoD/IC experience; National Security budget/acquisition knowledge.
  • M&A success; strong government/industry relationships.
  • TS/SCI preferred; travel up to 10%.

Ability to gain internal support, operate independently, and foster collaboration in a dynamic defense environment. Leidos offers a salary range of $223,800 - $360,000, plus comprehensive benefits.

  • Demonstrated success closing Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) (experience)
  • Proven partnering with key government customers and industry partners (experience)
  • TS/SCI clearance (strongly desired; TS with SCI eligibility considered) (experience)
  • Strong oral/written communication and proficiency with Microsoft Office/CRM tools (experience)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% per month (experience)

  • Monitor market changes, customer buying patterns, budgets, and technology trends; provide recommendations
  • Support organic growth (new business, on-contract), inorganic activities (M&A, JVs), and opportunity development
  • Oversee Growth Operations including metrics tracking, BD/capture activities, gate reviews, color reviews, and reporting
  • Ensure adherence to Gate Review Process and track all Growth actions to closure
  • Identify process improvements and optimize tools like dashboards and reports
