Job Description

VPN - DMZ and WAN Network Engineer

Join Leidos on the Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) Contract, the largest IT services program for the United States Navy. Support the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), delivering mission-critical network services globally from Norfolk, VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver VPN, WAN, DMZ, Firewall, and Cisco SME for NMCI current operations, including network modification, integration, maintenance, and security.
  • Collaborate with Network Operations Center (NOC), administrators, and engineering teams to enhance network security appliances like DMZ, VPN, Firewalls, and Cisco ASA/Firepower.
  • Lead development of SOPs/TTPs, test automation, drive Continuous Service Improvements (CSI), and create Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).
  • Plan network upgrades with stakeholders, provide Tier III support, vendor engagement, and Root Cause Analysis for Incident and Problem Management.
  • Ensure STIG/pre-STIG compliance, develop EIP documentation, and support CDRL deliverables for DoD standards.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree + 4-8 years experience (or equivalent).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II (CCNP Security, CISSP, CASP+).
  • Associate-level certification from Cisco, Juniper, or F5.
  • Availability for off-hours work and on-call rotation.

  • Ability to work off-hours and participate in on-call rotation (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide VPN, WAN, DMZ, Firewall, and Cisco Network Engineering SME for NMCI operations
  • Design, implement, and maintain global network security solutions
  • Collaborate with NOC, admins, and engineering teams to improve network security appliances and automation
  • Develop Network SOPs/TTPs, Engineering Implementation Plans, and support Continuous Service Improvements
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, provide Tier III escalation support, and participate in Root Cause Analysis
  • Ensure STIG compliance, develop EIP documentation, and support CDRL processes
