Job Description

VPN - DMZ and WAN Network Engineer

Join Leidos on the Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) contract, the largest IT services program for the U.S. Navy. Support the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) as a skilled Network Engineer specializing in VPN, WAN, and DMZ technologies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver SME support for VPN, WAN, DMZ, firewalls, and Cisco solutions on the world's largest intranet.
  • Collaborate with NOC, admins, and engineers to enhance security appliances, automation, SOPs/TTPs, CSI, and performance.
  • Plan upgrades and maintenance with operations managers, NOC leads, and stakeholders.
  • Provide Tier III support, vendor engagement, and root cause analysis for incidents and problems.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Maintain STIG/pre-STIG compliance and conduct assessments/remediation for DoD standards.
  • Develop Enterprise Infrastructure Planning (EIP) and CDRL documentation.
  • Align efforts with enterprise processes in ITSM and DevSecOps.

Shift Details

Wednesday-Sunday shifts (day or night); night shifts only if in Bremerton, WA.

Qualifications

  • B.S. + 4-8 years experience (or equivalent).
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II (CCNP Security, CISSP, CASP+).
  • Associate-level Cisco/Juniper/F5 certification.
  • On-call and off-hours availability.

  • Active Associate-level Network Vendor Certification (Cisco, Juniper, F5 Networks) (experience)
  • Availability for off-hours, on-call rotation, and Wednesday-Sunday shifts (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Provide VPN, WAN, DMZ, Firewall, and Cisco SME for NMCI operations
  • Design, implement, and maintain global network security solutions
  • Collaborate on network security appliances, automation, SOPs/TTPs, and CSI
  • Plan and execute network upgrades with stakeholders and NOC
  • Deliver Tier III escalation support, vendor engagement, and root cause analysis
  • Ensure STIG/pre-STIG compliance and develop EIP documentation
