The mission of the Loan Officer is to fuel Lennar's growth by securing mortgage business through proactive outside sales and exceptional customer service. You'll seek and develop relationships with new business sources—internally with New Home Consultants (NHCs) and externally with brokers and realtors. By interviewing prospects, analyzing their financial profiles, and recommending tailored loan products, you'll guide them from application to approval and closing.

This role demands mobility and initiative: regular travel to homebuilding communities, realtor offices, and events is essential. Your success will be measured by closed loan capture rates, spot loan objectives, and overall sales goals set by the Division Manager. Detailed Responsibilities

  • Lead Generation & Outside Sales: Support company growth by actively soliciting new business. Travel weekly to communities, realtors' offices, and builder events to generate leads from homebuilders, brokers, and referral sources.
  • First-Time Homebuyer Seminars: Conduct regular seminars in Lennar communities to educate prospects, build relationships with NHCs, and convert attendees into qualified leads.
  • Networking & Relationship Building: Participate in builder functions, status meetings, phase releases, phone banks, and special events to maintain strong ties and deliver superior customer service.
  • Customer Engagement: Meet prospects at convenient locations to explain mortgage offerings, collect financial documents, obtain loan applications, and attend closings. Review daily leads and follow up via phone/email for in-person or virtual meetings.
  • Loan Origination & Advisory: Prepare loans per the Loan Officer agreement and Products & Policies manual. Analyze customer needs, recommend optimal mortgage products, and advise on risks/benefits.
  • Rate Management & Pipeline Oversight: Monitor interest rates, lock loans at least 15 days pre-closing per Secondary Marketing policies, and provide pre-qualification support to NHCs for sales pipeline development.
  • Performance & Reporting: Meet or exceed division sales goals. Maintain meticulous records in the origination system, including loan status, customer communications, underwriting notes, locks, projected closings, incentives, and expenses.

Technical & Behavioral Qualifications

Technical Requirements

  • Four-year college degree (finance, business, or related field preferred).
  • Active Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license in South Carolina.
  • 2+ years of mortgage origination experience, ideally in homebuilding or real estate.
  • Proficiency in loan origination software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • In-depth knowledge of FHA, VA, Conventional, and Lennar-specific loan products.
