Role & Mission

The Purchasing Estimator is the guardian of cost integrity in Lennar's homebuilding process. Your mission: Execute meticulous take-offs for all plans—existing, new, and revised—while verifying changes and recommending cost-saving measures. You'll minimize material Engineering Change Order (EPO) requests, conduct field verifications, and collaborate with architects, engineers, Purchasing, and Operations teams. By ensuring quantities align with scopes of work, you'll contribute directly to Lennar's zero-defect philosophy, enabling on-time, on-budget delivery of high-quality homes that delight homeowners and exceed community expectations.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Create material take-offs: Develop comprehensive take-offs for all existing, new, and revised residential plans, starting with the framing category and expanding as needed. Use advanced tools like Excel and proprietary software to quantify materials accurately.
• Maintain active plan take-offs: Continuously update and manage take-offs for ongoing projects, ensuring data integrity amid evolving designs and specifications.
• Verify change requests: Interact seamlessly with Purchasing and Operations to review, validate, and approve take-off modifications, preventing discrepancies downstream.
• Collaborate with design professionals: Engage with architect and engineering consultants to address plan changes impacting take-offs, providing expert input on feasibility and costs.
• Perform cost analysis: Scrutinize plans for optimization opportunities, research costs of proposed design ideas, and deliver actionable recommendations to control expenses.
• Review EPO requests: Assist in evaluating material EPOs against take-offs and scopes, proactively eliminating unnecessary requests to streamline procurement and reduce waste.
