Implement automation for routine tasks with IaaS tools such as Chef or Ansible, configure Linux kernel parameters, file systems, and storage subsystems for optimal object storage performance across diverse hardware. Enhance monitoring with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana, collaborate on full development lifecycles, and participate in on-call rotations to maintain SLAs and SLOs. Track projects via Jira or GitLab, communicate status updates, and share best practices to elevate team knowledge.
To succeed, you need 3-5 years of professional experience in distributed systems, a BS in Computer Science or equivalent, and must be a US citizen or permanent resident. Demonstrate solid Linux internals knowledge, including virtual memory, process scheduling, and storage I/O, with skills in performance analysis and bottleneck diagnosis. Familiarity with storage technologies like block/object and Kubernetes-native or AWS S3-compatible solutions is essential, alongside networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, security). Experience with Python/Go, Chef, observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK), and project tools is required. Bring strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, a security-conscious mindset, and a proactive attitude for independent and team-based work. Occasional travel (1-2 trips/year) for meetings.
