Description:

You will be the Aircraft Structural Mechanic for the SOF GLSS team. Our team is responsible for delivering high‑impact structural maintenance and repair services that sustain critical rotary‑wing platforms for Special Operations Forces.



What You Will Be Doing


As the Aircraft Structural Mechanic you will be responsible for modifying, repairing, and maintaining the structural configurations of H‑6, H‑60, and H‑47 rotary‑wing aircraft supporting the SOF GLSS contract located in Lexington, KY.



Your responsibilities will include:



  • Performing structural modifications using riveting, fastening, trimming, sanding, bonding, and composite repair techniques.

  • Conducting damage assessments, corrosion removal, treatment, and preventative maintenance to extend airframe life.

  • Fabricating, installing, and replacing sheet‑metal and composite panels, fairings, and structural parts per engineering drawings.

  • Executing detailed structural inspections during phase, isochronal, and periodic maintenance programs.

  • Interpreting engineering drawings, repair manuals, and service bulletins while accurately documenting work in maintenance logs.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.


Basic Qualifications:
Aircraft Handling Knowledge – Proficient in safe jacking, towing, and positioning of rotary‑wing aircraft for structural work.

Maintenance Documentation – Ability to accurately record repairs, inspections, and modifications in maintenance logs, modification and production instructions, and military documentation systems.

Quality Assurance – Demonstrated skill in verifying completed work against airworthiness standards and mission requirements.

Depot Maintenance Support – Capability to execute structural repairs at both flight‑line and depot levels.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Small Helicopter Structures
Prior structural work on MD‑500, AH/MH‑6, or comparable small‑helicopter airframes (inspections, repairs, modifications).

Familiarity with Larger Helicopter Airframes
Knowledge or experience with CH/MH‑47 and UH/MH‑60 structural components; ability to transition between H‑6, H‑60, and H‑47 platforms as operational needs dictate.

Specialized Structural Skills

- Sheet‑metal fabrication, riveting, and welding.
- Composite repairs (bonding, lay‑up, patching).
- High‑precision work with tight tolerances.
- Capability to fabricate/repair structural spare parts and assemblies.

Certifications
FAA A&P license, DoD/USAF aircraft structural certification, or equivalent military qualifications preferred.

Technical Training
Completion of aircraft structural maintenance courses (e.g., Rotor‑Wing Structural Maintenance School).
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Secret
