Position Summary
Join Sonoco as Maintenance Manager in Greensboro, GA, reporting to the Plant Manager. Lead smooth plant operations on first shift while managing your IMRT team. Focus on proactive maintenance, safety, quality, and productivity to ensure efficient production and shipment of Sonoco's world-class packaging products. Pay rate starts at $42.90/hour with strong growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Develop preventive/predictive maintenance programs to eliminate equipment failures. Quickly troubleshoot issues across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, piping, and robotic systems. Communicate plans to operations teams and document procedures to prevent repeats. Lead FMEA, RCCA, and ATS activities. Perform precision welding, fabrication, PLC programming, and AC/DC drive repairs. Maintain impeccable housekeeping and train your team on safety protocols.
Technical Expertise Required
- Read schematics and apply lubrication principles
- Operate shop tools like lathes, mills, and drills
- Precision install/repair equipment per OEM specs
- Fabricate electrical, piping, and mechanical components
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Mechatronics or Industrial Maintenance, plus 8+ years experience. Sonoco Electrical Safety Category 2 certified. Excel in communication, troubleshooting, and proactive reliability thinking. Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to drive change in fast-paced manufacturing.

- Communicate effectively with operations to resolve equipment issues impacting safety/quality
- Participate in FMEA, RCCA & analytical troubleshooting activities
- Document maintenance work for historical analysis & develop new procedures
- Perform precision welding, fabrication & equipment installation per OEM specs
- Maintain exceptional housekeeping & proper tool usage
- Manage training & administration for IMRT team
