Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager in Greensboro, AL, the Maintenance Manager drives plant equipment reliability through the Sonoco Performance System (SPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Maintenance Excellence processes. You'll lead, coach, and develop a high-performing maintenance team to ensure safety, quality, and productivity while fostering collaboration across operations.

Key Responsibilities

Key duties include championing Maintenance Excellence as the Plant SPS (TPM) leader, building skilled teams through training and performance management, leading RCA and countermeasures for complex issues, implementing proactive maintenance strategies for Zero-Loss goals, overseeing facility infrastructure like HVAC and utilities, managing work orders and spare parts inventory, and collaborating on capital projects with engineering teams. You'll create a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

We're seeking candidates with 5+ years in industrial maintenance management, expertise in TPM/SPS, strong leadership in team development, and technical knowledge in mechanical/electrical systems. Preferred: experience with extruders, tool/die, and material conveyance. Excellent relationship management, RCA/FMEA skills, and a commitment to safety and reliability are essential. Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.

  • Experience with Sonoco Performance System (SPS) or similar TPM frameworks (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Champion Maintenance Excellence process and lead Plant SPS (TPM) Steering Team
  • Develop and lead a high-performing maintenance team through hiring, training, and performance management
  • Oversee troubleshooting, RCA, and countermeasures for equipment issues ensuring code compliance
  • Implement proactive maintenance strategies to support Zero-Loss initiative and improve OEE
  • Manage facility infrastructure including HVAC, compressed air, utilities, and grounds maintenance
  • Establish structured work management processes including work order generation, planning, and execution
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and contractors to ensure equipment reliability and execute capital projects
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and manage procurement/service contracts effectively
