Position Summary

Reporting to the Plant Manager in Hartwell, GA, the Maintenance Manager drives maximum equipment reliability through the Sonoco Performance System (SPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Maintenance Excellence. This hands-on leader ensures safety, uptime, and cost efficiency in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion safety to prevent injuries and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Implement reliability processes to enhance machine uptime, OEE, and reduce costs.
  • Lead and develop a skilled maintenance team with training and empowerment.
  • Scope capital projects, manage budgets, and identify equipment improvements.
  • Use root cause tools like FMEA and 5Why’s to eliminate breakdowns.
  • Act as a key plant leader, fostering continuous improvement aligned with corporate goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years leading plant maintenance or 5+ years in supervisory manufacturing roles.
  • Strong OSHA knowledge, RCA proficiency, and basic mechanical/electrical skills.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and CMMS experience preferred.
  • TPM/Reliability background a plus.

  • Manage capital projects, budgeting, and department spend
  • Apply root cause analysis to eliminate equipment failures
  • Collaborate on plant leadership team for continuous improvements
  • Align departmental goals with plant and corporate objectives
