Position Summary

Sonoco is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) for our Oakdale, CA facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this full-time role offers a competitive wage of $37.06 per hour. The primary shift is Monday-Friday, 3:30pm to midnight, with flexibility for any shift, overtime, or on-call duties as needed. Ideal candidates thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ensuring equipment reliability and safety.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll troubleshoot, repair, install, and dismantle all types of machinery and auxiliary production equipment. Responsibilities include inspecting job sites and blueprints, fabricating structural units like guarding and platforms, performing preventative maintenance on buildings and grounds, maintaining organized work areas, and following all safety and food safety protocols. You'll communicate effectively across shifts, adhere to SOPs, and contribute to a positive team environment while handling stress productively.

Core Duties:

• Comply with job safety practices and support food safety systems.
• Select tools and materials, splice ropes/cables, and recommend support equipment.
• Conduct clean-up, painting, housekeeping, and environmental documentation.
• Work rotating 12-hour shifts if required, with regular attendance essential.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have strong functional/technical skills, effective communication abilities, and the physical capacity to meet demanding job requirements. Experience in manufacturing, blueprint reading, mechanical repair, and welding is preferred. You should be able to work in a dynamic environment, follow company policies, and respond to emergencies per protocols. Physical Demands Assessment compliance is mandatory.
