As a key people and technical leader, you'll manage a high-impact team of Developer Advocates specializing in Application Development and Performance. Key Responsibilities at Datadog

  • Lead and manage a team of Developer Advocates, setting work priorities and fostering a positive, high-performance culture
  • Contribute to defining team OKRs and strategic direction, ensuring successful execution
  • Drive consistent delivery of high-quality technical content including videos, talks, and workshops
  • Remove technical and procedural roadblocks to enable your team's best work
  • Balance management responsibilities with hands-on technical contributions and content creation

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Technical Background: Former software developer, SRE, or technical practitioner with proven experience building and maintaining production systems
  • Management Experience: 2-5 years managing small engineering or advocacy teams, with expertise in performance coaching and career guidance
  • Advocacy Expertise: Established developer advocate skilled across multiple channels – written content, conference talks, workshops, live streaming, videos, open source, and community events
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with 2+ programming languages (Python, Go, Node.js, bash) and modern infrastructure including IaaS cloud services and containers
  • Strategic Thinking: Experience defining OKRs, driving team strategy, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse developer audiences
