Key Responsibilities at Datadog

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, driving their professional growth through 1:1 coaching, career planning, and skill development
• Shape product strategy by collaborating with Product Managers to define roadmaps for Kubernetes autoscaling features
• Solve complex technical problems strategically, working with your team to create well-defined, actionable implementation plans
• Drive code quality as a core contributor and reviewer, leading architecture decisions for distributed systems
• Ensure production reliability through participation in on-call rotation and system health monitoring
• Optimize resource efficiency by building autoscaling solutions that balance performance, cost, and reliability
• Foster cross-team collaboration with observability, monitoring, and platform engineering groups
• Mentor on modern practices including Go, TypeScript, Kubernetes operators, and cloud-native architecture
• Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, technical design documents, and best practices

Qualifications & Requirements

Datadog seeks proven engineering leaders passionate about distributed systems, container orchestration, and observability. Key qualifications include:

• Proven track record managing engineering teams through growth phases and technical challenges
• Deep expertise building distributed systems emphasizing reliability, fault tolerance, and scalability
• Product-oriented mindset with experience partnering with PMs and customers on feature roadmaps
• Hands-on full stack experience with Go programming language and TypeScript in production environments
• Kubernetes expertise including operators, custom controllers, and Horizontal Pod Autoscaler (HPA)
• Strong systems thinking for infrastructure autoscaling and resource optimization
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
