Role Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Nike in Istanbul, Turkey, you'll be at the heart of our Manufacturing Engineering team. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing & Systems Engineering in EMEA, you'll drive foundational capabilities in Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering. This role focuses on fabric technologies, advanced manufacturing processes, and aligning with Nike's strategic goals for continuous improvement and sustainability. Collaborate with Product Risk Engineering, Senior Manufacturing Systems, and Advanced Manufacturing teams to elevate partner factories and ensure world-class production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, and Garment Engineering principles across Nike’s manufacturing partners to enhance capabilities.
  • Liaise with Product Risk Engineering to deploy Nike’s product performance standards and standardize manufacturing processes for consistency and efficiency.
  • Leverage manufacturing integration tools, engineering best practices, and quality/process engineering to mitigate risks during production.
  • Execute world-class production quality engineering processes to deliver perfect products on the first pass.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and quality verifications for post-production materials and products to inform decisions.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to meet creative, functional, and commercial material requirements.
  • Research global textile trends, market needs, new technologies, and consumer preferences to fuel fabric innovation.
  • Monitor seasonal fabric development KPIs, including developments, testing, risk assessments, and compliance with Nike standards and regulations.
  • Drive Nike’s sustainability targets through material innovation and process optimization.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this Manufacturing Engineer role at Nike, candidates need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Systems Engineering or related areas. Strong foundation in Quality, Lean, Industrial Engineering, Garment Engineering, and Fabric Technologies required; advanced degrees or certifications preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in fabric development and production, including spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, finishing, printing (sublimation techniques), and washing processes.
  • Proven leadership and management skills to inspire engineering teams, foster innovation, and manage multiple projects. Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities across teams and levels.
  • Deep understanding of apparel/accessory processes and their impact on scheduling, manufacturing, distribution, and product quality.

  • Experience implementing Continuous Improvement methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, with a data-driven, results-oriented mindset.

  • Proficiency in process engineering, GSD (General Sewing Data), and factory capacity planning as a plus.
