Electrical Reliability Engineer at Marathon Petroleum - Martinez, CA

Are you an experienced Electrical Reliability Engineer looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity? Marathon Petroleum's Martinez Renewable Fuels Facility is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our electrical systems, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Role Overview

As an Electrical Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving the reliability of our electrical equipment and systems. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining compliance of instrument equipment with the Mechanical Integrity program, including identifying covered equipment, developing and scheduling ITPM plans, budgeting, analysis of results, and developing recommendations for repair.
  • Utilizing reliability tools and CMMS software such as SAP, GE APM, failure evaluations, Pareto Analysis, and cost analysis to improve the reliability of electrical equipment systems.
  • Supporting the Electrical reliability improvement program, working directly with vendors, reviewing upgrade recommendations, and championing upgrades through the appropriate budgeting process.
  • Developing Project Request Forms (PRFs) for equipment upgrades, including financial justification (life cycle cost analysis), and assisting in Decision Support Package (DSP) development.
  • Maintaining and updating the Electrical Testing database and ETAP model.
  • Analyzing equipment failure and condition monitoring data to identify opportunities for improvement in equipment reliability, availability, and cost of operation.
  • Supporting facility turnarounds, including scope development, planning, reviews, material selection, and execution of work scopes.
  • Developing and overseeing shop maintenance/repairs completed internally and at vendors/outside repair facilities.
  • Providing technical expertise and training for maintenance crafts and operators to support reliability programs.
  • Providing technical assistance/troubleshooting assistance in resolving Instrument operations and maintenance problems, contacting internal and external experts as required.
  • Participating in safety walks and field audits on a regular basis.
  • Serving as a technical resource to the Process Safety Department during HAZOP reviews.
  • Leading and/or supporting multi-disciplinary incident investigations to determine root cause and identify corrective actions.
  • Ensuring technical documentation is maintained per PSI (Process Safety Information) Policies, including One Line Drawings, Elementary drawings, wiring diagrams, and datasheets.
  • Championing Mechanical Integrity program and the Major Equipment Definition.
