Position Summary

The Market Intelligence Analyst Sr/Consultant role at Williams in Houston, Texas, is pivotal for shaping natural gas trading strategies. As a key player in our commercial team, you'll develop comprehensive short-, medium-, and long-term supply and demand forecasts for critical markets. Leveraging third-party data and proprietary insights, you'll craft commodity pricing point-of-views (POV) and fundamental views (PV) that guide business decisions. This senior-level position involves liaising with upper management, partnering with commercial and FP&A teams, and delivering ad-hoc analysis for strategic opportunities. Key Responsibilities

Market Analysis and Forecasting

  • Provide market intelligence, supply/demand analysis, pricing forecasts, competitive intelligence, and risk assessments to inform natural gas traders' decisions.
  • Utilize third-party data to compile research supporting regional natural gas trading strategies.
  • Develop and maintain supply/demand and price/basis reports for daily and forward trading.

Trend Identification and Support

  • Spot natural gas market trends or risks before they become widely known by consultants or competitors.
  • Support the Gas Trading Asset Management team with near-term and long-term fundamental assessments for pipeline and storage decisions.
  • Proactively monitor market news, customer/competitor announcements, and earnings calls, delivering quick summaries to traders.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Present market fundamental perspectives to external stakeholders to strengthen client relationships.
  • Build a strong foundation with the natural gas trading team through on-the-ground market knowledge and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with upper management on POV/PV development and critical ad-hoc analysis.

Other duties as assigned, ensuring adherence to safety priorities and deadlines.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field; minimum 8 years of related experience required.
  • Preferred: Master's degree with at least 12 years of experience in market intelligence or energy trading.

Skills and Expertise

  • Demonstrated understanding of market factors influencing commodity pricing, including supply, demand, seasonality, regulations, and international trade.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC skills; experience with project economics or supply/demand modeling.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with proven ability to advise executives, manage projects, and deliver presentations as a subject matter expert.
  • Depth of knowledge in the hydrocarbon industry, our business, customers, and competitors.
  • Comfort working with senior management and comfort in high-stakes environments.
