Position Summary
Join Sonoco as a Material Handler I - 1st Shift in Putnam, CT. Reporting to the Department Manager, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe environment while transporting plant goods. This full-time position offers a pay rate of $20.06/hour on the 1st shift (6:30am-3:00pm), with overtime as needed. Ideal for those with material handling experience seeking stability in the packaging industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply materials to manufacturing and secondary assembly areas.
- Prepare work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods for transport, including stretch wrapping and strapping.
- Transport WIP, finished goods, scrap, and non-conforming products from the manufacturing floor to warehouse or storage.
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and document safety checks.
- Load and unload trucks as instructed.
- Verify inventory levels and perform cycle counts.
- Maintain accurate records per production and quality standards.
- Uphold 5S cleanliness in manufacturing and storage areas.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typically 2 years of material handler experience.
- Ability to perform all duties with the highest quality and safety standards.
- Experience maintaining clean work areas using 5S methodology.
