Position Summary
Sonoco is hiring a Material Handler I for our 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:30pm) in Conyers, GA. Starting pay is $20.81/hour plus $1.50 shift differential. Reporting to the Warehouse and Shipping Coordinator, you'll ensure efficient shipping, receiving, and inventory management in a fast-paced environment. Forklift experience is required; no prior manufacturing experience needed. Excellent attendance, safety focus, and teamwork are key to success.
Key Responsibilities
As a Material Handler I, you'll:
- Safely operate forklifts and clamp trucks, completing daily OSHA inspections.
- Load/unload trailers, verify tags/labels, and prepare shipments with Certificates of Analysis.
- Move materials between plant, warehouse, and storage areas.
- Manage inventory levels, assist with counts, and maintain organization.
- Process invoicing and shipments using computer systems.
- Uphold housekeeping standards and prioritize safety/quality.
- Handle overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
We're looking for:
- Proven forklift experience.
- Strong written/verbal communication and multitasking skills.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and work independently or in teams.
- Attention to detail for defect spotting and instructions.
- Reliability, initiative, and flexibility for OT/weekends.
- Computer skills for shipping/invoicing; product quality knowledge a plus.
