Position Summary

Sonoco is seeking a skilled Material Handler I for our Conyers, GA facility. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, this 2nd shift role offers a competitive wage of $20.26/hour. You'll ensure the safe and precise operation of heavy machinery while supporting production flow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ideal for experienced forklift drivers passionate about material handling in packaging.

Key Responsibilities

As a Material Handler I, your daily tasks will include:

• Strapping pallets (2-way or 4-way) with appropriate dunnage using strapping guns, ergo machines, or hand methods.
• Conducting quality inspections by checking specifications on samples with measuring tape.
• Completing and organizing all floor documentation in plastic envelopes.
• Moving strips and finished goods to maintain efficient production flow.
• Operating wrapping machines and replacing rolls as needed.
• Assisting with truck loading via the buddy check system.
• Inspecting incoming board/rolls to verify flute, caliper, and sizes match purchase orders.
• Handling miscellaneous assignments, general labor, and tasks assigned by supervision.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience handling raw materials in manufacturing and as a Forklift Driver.
• Ability to safely manage all products and materials.
• Skills to perform under minimal supervision, resolving complex issues independently.
• Comprehensive subject matter knowledge with leadership potential for coaching subordinates.
