As a Senior Accountant (CPA/CA Qualified) in our Finance department, you will lead accounting activities with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and transparency. You will drive the month-end close process, manage the general ledger, and prepare financial reports that support our global consolidations, all in strict adherence to US GAAP. Working closely with internal teams, external auditors, and stakeholders, you will safeguard our financial integrity while enabling data-driven decisions that fuel McGraw Hill's mission to transform education. Your impact will include overseeing journal entries and reconciliations, monitoring internal controls to mitigate risks, and providing ad-hoc analysis for senior leadership. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with the month-end close process for the component, ensuring accurate recording of all accounting entries
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheets in compliance with US GAAP
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance and ensure appropriate recording of financial transactions
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, corporate policies, and internal control procedures
  • Monitor adherence to internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks
  • Assist with external audits by providing documentation and financial reports
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior management
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, and stakeholders for accurate financial reporting
  • Contribute to the company's financial consolidation processes
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues through strong analytical skills

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or similar role
  • Experience in Big 4 public accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent CA certification (must-have)
  • Familiarity with month-end close process and financial reporting under US GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Experience in education technology or publishing industry
  • Prior exposure to international financial consolidations
  • Knowledge of corporate policies in a global organization
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
