We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant (CPA/CA Qualified) to drive accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements compliant with US GAAP. In this pivotal role within the Finance department, you will lead the month-end close process, manage general ledger activities, and prepare reports essential for company-wide financial consolidation. Working closely with internal cross-functional teams, external auditors, and stakeholders, you will uphold compliance, accuracy, and transparency while mitigating risks through robust internal controls. Your expertise will support our global operations, enabling McGraw Hill to innovate in education technology without financial hurdles. To succeed, you need at least 4 years of accounting experience, including 1-2 years in a senior role, Big 4 public accounting background, and CPA/CA qualification. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and accounting software, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment are key. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with the month-end close process for the component, ensuring accurate recording of all accounting entries
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheets in compliance with US GAAP
  • Oversee general ledger maintenance and ensure appropriate recording of financial transactions
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, corporate policies, and internal control procedures
  • Monitor adherence to internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks
  • Assist with external audits by providing documentation and financial reports as requested
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior management
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external auditors, and stakeholders to ensure compliance, accuracy, and transparency in financial reporting
  • Contribute to the company’s financial consolidation processes
  • Identify and resolve accounting issues through strong analytical skills

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or similar role
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or equivalent (CA qualified)
  • Experience in Big 4 public accounting
  • Familiarity with the month-end close process and financial reporting under US GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
