The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) - Northern Los Angeles position is a field-based opportunity within Gilead's US Medical Affairs team, focusing on HIV Treatment and Prevention. This role covers Northern Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Central California, and Hawaii, reporting to the USMA West HIV Field Director. As an MSL, you will serve as a scientific expert, fostering professional relationships with key healthcare decision-makers in public health, academic institutions, and community providers. This is an ideal role for an experienced healthcare professional passionate about advancing HIV care through education, insights, and collaboration.
Your work will align with Gilead's Medical Affairs Plan of Action, delivering timely scientific presentations, gathering field insights, and supporting strategic initiatives in HIV therapeutics.
In this dynamic role, you will engage directly with the medical community to bridge scientific knowledge and clinical practice. Responsibilities include delivering accurate clinical, scientific, and educational presentations to healthcare providers, both proactively and upon request, in full compliance with PhRMA guidelines and FDA regulations. You will develop strategic plans to cultivate relationships with thought leaders, provide competitive intelligence on treatment trends, and participate in advisory boards, speaker training, and conferences.
Collaboration is key: partner with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and Marketing teams. Respond to inquiries on marketed and developmental Gilead products, recommend clinical trial sites, and train sales forces. Maintain meticulous documentation, adhere to all pharmaceutical codes and Gilead policies, and travel frequently to meet objectives.
Gilead seeks an experienced, results-oriented professional with an advanced degree (PharmD, MD, or PhD preferred) in a relevant scientific discipline. A minimum of 3-5 years in a field medical role, ideally as an MSL in HIV or infectious diseases, is essential. Strong scientific acumen in HIV treatment and prevention, exceptional communication and presentation skills, and the ability to build influential relationships are required. Proficiency in regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and data analysis is critical. Frequent travel (up to 60-70%) within the territory is necessary, along with organizational skills for administrative tasks like expense reports and interaction documentation.
Prior work with Phase IV trials, opinion leader engagement, and cross-functional collaboration in biopharma is highly valued.
