The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) position at Gilead Sciences is a field-based role covering Upper Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and Westchester in New York. Reporting to the East USMA Field Director for Liver Disease, this role supports field-facing activities for USMA Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), Hepatitis C (HCV), Hepatitis B (HBV), and Hepatitis D (HDV) Plans of Action. As an MSL, you will bridge scientific expertise with healthcare providers, thought leaders, and internal teams to advance Gilead's liver disease portfolio. This position demands a blend of clinical knowledge, strategic relationship-building, and compliance adherence, offering a direct impact on patient outcomes in a dynamic biopharma environment.
In this critical role, the MSL will execute a range of responsibilities aligned with Gilead's Medical Affairs strategy. Key duties include delivering timely, accurate clinical, scientific, and educational presentations to healthcare providers in liver disease, both proactively and reactively, while adhering to promotional compliance, PhRMA guidelines, and FDA requirements. You will develop strategic plans to cultivate relationships with thought leaders, provide field insights on treatment trends to strategy and competitive intelligence teams, and evaluate/nominate healthcare professionals for promotional speaker programs. Participation in advisory boards, speaker training, and clinical conferences is essential, alongside collaboration with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Commercial, and Marketing teams. Additional tasks encompass supporting clinical trial investigators, providing scientific training to sales staff, and maintaining all administrative compliance.
Proactively engage with healthcare providers to share scientific information and gather insights on evolving treatment landscapes in PBC, HCV, HBV, and HDV, ensuring Gilead remains at the forefront of liver disease innovation.
Build and maintain robust networks with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and medical directors to foster partnerships that drive medical strategies forward.
Candidates must hold an advanced medical, scientific, or clinical degree such as MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, NP, or PA, with prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related healthcare field. A minimum of 2 years in a medically related profession, particularly liver disease or antiviral medicine, is required, accompanied by strong knowledge of clinical research processes, treatment landscapes, and professional society guidelines. Clinical practice experience is highly desirable. Excellent presentation skills for large audiences, superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication, and a collaborative team-oriented approach are essential. Proficiency in project management, handling multiple priorities, and business acumen will set top candidates apart.
