A Day in the Life

External Reporting EMEA Team offers services for multiple key financial processes including Statutory and Corporate Income Tax reporting. The team is diverse and multicultural, with most members located in Heerlen and others working remotely. It is part of a larger, dynamic finance organization, serving a wide range of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region countries.

To be successful in this role you need to have a passion for & experience in guiding, supporting and developing a team operating in a global and evolving environment. You should be a collaborative team player with a hands-on mentality, demonstrating curiosity and a willingness to learn. Accounting knowledge, good verbal and written communication skills in English, a problem-solving mindset, and an interest in improving processes and leveraging new technologies will help you thrive in this position. The preferred work location for this role is Heerlen (NL), with, at this moment, 2-3 days a week working on site.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Supervise a team of approximately 8 people. The team’s services include statutory financial reporting, Corporate Income Tax accounting, reporting, and audit
  • Perform relationship management with local finance in the countries, tax departments, external auditors, and service providers
  • Set team goals, assure achievement of the goals, have development and performance conversations, be involved in hiring, planning & monitoring of the operational work
  • Contribute and lead projects and initiatives to transform, optimize standardization, and automate audit coordination and statutory, corporate income tax and group reporting
  • Review ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, draft financial statements, Corporate Income Tax and group reporting; provide support to staff in preparation of financial statements and returns

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Audit and/or Accounting
  • 6+ years relevant working experience
  • Experience in a leadership-related role and change management
  • Strong communication, coordinating and relationship management skills
  • Highly self-motivated, pro-active and results-driven
  • C1 proficiency level in English business language

We value candidates candidates to hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification or its equivalent, possess hands-on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systemspreferably SAPand demonstrate a strong working knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
