A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Develops and applies computer aided design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems.

• Assessing architecture and hardware limitations, plans technical projects in the design and development of CAD software.

• Defines and selects new approaches and implementation of CAD software engineering applications and design specifications and parameters.

• Develops routines and utility programs.

• Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval.

• May specify materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of projects and may evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.

TECHNICAL SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS

Autonomy: Recognized expert, managing large projects or processes. Exercises considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments, with limited oversight from manager. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level specialists.

Organizational Impact: Contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results. May manage large projects or processes that span outside of immediate job area.

Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced are difficult, moderately complex and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation. Develops solutions to moderately complex problems, and/or makes moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products independently to enhance performance of job area. Implements solutions to problems.

Communication and Influence: Represents organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels. May negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.

Leadership and Talent Management: Typically provides guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area. Typically manages major / moderately complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products, at times acting as a team leader.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Requires a Baccalaureate degree and Minimum of 7 years relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience.

• Expert knowledge of PLC’s with extensive programming and diagnosis experience in a manufacturing environment

• Proven track record of leading the full life cycle of introducing automated equipment from concept generation to commissioning & debug, with experience in feasibility and design stages

• Knowledge and experience specifying and validating vision systems: detection, measurement, OCR, OCV.

• Proven experience working with several multi-national automation vendors and best in class automated process technology.

• The candidate should have demonstrated experience working in a role that involves expertise in various fields and disciplines, such as technical knowledge and training, as well as effectively sharing information and communicating with team members and management. The candidate should be able to adapt to different roles and work effectively in different areas of the business.

• Proven ability to work effectively and proactively on cross-functional and cross-site teams, as well as leading and mentoring teams

• Experienced project manager with a proven track record in delivering innovative equipment designs on time and on budget, preferably with a PM qualification.

• You’re an excellent problem solver who can translate complexity into simplicity and articulate crisply and clearly.

• Creates and communicates clear strategy/plans, with a demonstrated ability to make sound judgments.

• Passionate about understanding the workings of complex systems and processes, and bringing this passion to work.

• Excellent communicator with fluency in English, both in writing and speaking.

• Experience working in teams focused on identifying new project opportunities.

• Skill in planning and developing work plans
