A Day in the Life

As R&D Engineer II of the MEIC, you will collaborate with the sustenance and Product Development teams globally. You will be involved in Concept development, Drawings , Prototype Building & document release and applying your knowledge on medical devices/products.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • As R&D Engineer you will design plastic and metal components with consideration for DFM, DFA, cost-effectiveness, cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Robust Modeling and Detailing practices following ASME guidelines.
  • Identify and address design problems, offering optimal and feasible solutions.
  • Communicate effectively within cross-functional teams, collaborating efficiently to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the engineering community.
  • Conduct engineering calculations and analyses to enhance/validate product designs as required.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis, Mechanism Design and Analysis, Mold Flow, etc., to validate product designs as necessary.
  • Support the Product Development Team by applying design engineering principles to new product design.
  • Prepare 2D drawings per ASME Standards with a solid understanding of GD&T.
  • Create 3D CAD Models using Creo from scratch or editing complex models proficiently.
  • Utilize Windchill PDM link to manage CAD Data effectively.
  • Execute the creation and release of Engineering Change Orders to ensure approved changes.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 4 to 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands on CAD systems such as Creo & SolidWorks– expert level (Drafting & Modelling) as well as data management systems such as Windchill.
  • should have very good knowledge of product development and cross-functional aspects.
  • Should be able to prepare 2D drawings by ASME Standards with sound knowledge on GD&T
  • Should create 3D CAD Models using Creo/SolidWorks either from scratch or able to edit complex models
  • Should be able to understand design problems and bring up optimal workable solution
  • Medical device technology experience, ideally in interventional vascular devices would be advantageous.
  • Individuals with experience in biomedical materials, processing knowledge and medical device design procedures.
  • Individuals with a proven track record in innovative design, product development and manufacturing.
  • Strong interpersonal and team management skills.
  • The candidate must be able to communicate well with cross-functional team members, be able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and contribute positively to the engineering community.
  • Ability to support the Product Development Team with application of design engineering to new product design.
  • Should be able to use windchill PDM-link to manage CAD Data flawlessly
  • Very good verbal communications to interact with global partners.
  • Knowledge in Concept Development, Prototyping and Bench/Lab Testing
