Position Summary
Sonoco is hiring a Moldsetter I for our Portland, IN facility on 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm). Reporting to the maintenance engineer, you'll safely set aluminum molds into production presses, ensuring seamless operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. With an hourly rate of $22.10 plus $2.00 shift differential, this role demands excellent attendance, teamwork, analytical skills, and a keen eye for production concerns. Key Responsibilities
As a Moldsetter I, your daily duties include:
- Collaborating with departments while adhering to 5S standards
- Obtaining correct molds, prepping, installing, and completing mold changes
- Preparing lines, fill guns, hoses, and running samples
- Removing molds, inspecting for quality, reporting repairs, and prepping for shipment
- Operating presses through cycles and performing routine maintenance
- Operating lift trucks and conducting minor mold repairs
- Maintaining a safe, clean workspace and supporting Sonoco's quality/safety policies
- Assisting other departments and working overtime as needed
Required Qualifications
To succeed as a Moldsetter I at Sonoco:
- Demonstrate proven success in fast-paced environments with excellent attendance
- Possess strong hands-on, analytical, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with various teams and spot production issues
- Experience with mold handling, press operations, and forklift use preferred
- Commitment to safety, quality, and 5S principles
