  • Department OverviewThe Command Center software team helps solve for safer by focusing on building public safety solutions that combine the capabilities of the entire software suite into a single, user-centric workflow, enabling public safety agencies to efficiently manage data across their operations.Job DescriptionThis Search product manager will be responsible for the strategy, roadmap and feature definition for a portion of MSI’s CAD/Mobile/Records portfolio, providing critical services for multiple teams.The product manager uses their technical knowledge and background, and analyzes market and competitive conditions to lay out a product roadmap that is differentiated and delivers unique value based on customer demands.
  • The role of the product manager spans many activities from strategic to tactical and provides cross-functional leadership—bridging gaps within the company between different functions, especially between development, sales and marketing, and support.
  • The ability to deeply understand and define the technical architecture and engineering behind features and to translate high level customer functional requirements into technical for development is a crucial skill.
  • In addition, the ability to describe the impact of technical requirements to customers and non-technical sales and support resources is a must.The product manager is responsible for defining the ‘why’, ‘what,’ and ‘when’ of the product that the development team will build.
  • They are the director of their product -- which means they lead cross-functional teams from a product's conception through to its launch.Product management responsibilities include: Product StrategyThe product manager is responsible for setting a product vision and strategy.
  • Their job is to clearly articulate the business value to the product team so they understand the intent behind the new product or product release.

  • The product manager owns the release aspect of the product.
  • Release responsibilities include managing features and dependencies in and across releases, product and support teams; and managing releases with phases and milestones.Establish vision and goals for sprints and releasesDefine market offer and structureWork with enablement organizations to make products orderable and deliverableDefine and support implementation of training, support and deployment requirementsManage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and qualityCoordinate overall release project and scheduleProduct VisioningCollecting, curating, and promoting the most relevant ideas into features.
  • Defining which ideas should be promoted to features to achieve key objectives for the product line and business.
  • Soliciting feedback and requests from customers and field teams and ensuring this is seamlessly integrated into the product planning and development processes.Gather customer and sales feedback and voice of customerFeature Definition The product manager defines the features and requirements necessary to deliver a complete product to market and lead the product team to success.
  • They are responsible for articulating the ‘what’ and working with development to determine the ‘when.’Create user stories and scenariosDirect and approve UI/UX activitiesDefine acceptance criteria, KPIs and SLAs Go-to-market SupportResponsible for making product decisions and often is the lead resource for the rest of the organization when deep product expertise is required.
  • This includes supporting the organizations that help bring the product to market and work directly with customers including marketing, sales, training and support services.Facilitate sales and channel trainingAssist pre-sales with custom project requestsDefine and ensure implementation of GTM assets including demo environments, training materials, and presentationsSpecialized Knowledge and SkillsBachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field5+ years of experience in Product Management in a high-tech environmentUnderstanding of Product Management principlesAgile/Scrum experienceFirm understanding of software design, user interaction, and user interface design.Deep technical knowledge in software development methodologies.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are a necessityPolished presentation skills for internal and external audiencesProactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedbackStrong ability to take complex user requirements and distill them into a format that can be understood by developers as well as non-technical staffAbility to research and analyze product requirements from various stakeholdersAbility to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data.Experience in Law Enforcement / Public Safety is a plusBuild consensus among stakeholdersAbility to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment Ability to multi-task among various assignments This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc.
  • Target Base Salary Range: $101,000 - $135,000 USDConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
  • Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
