  • Licensing Consultant is responsible for managing and supporting a range of technology and intellectual property licensing activities within the public safety and video/access security industry, including: interpreting, negotiating, and/or administering contracts; advising on internal licensing policies and compliance; advising on technology standards and related licensing issues; providing input on licensing and IP protection issues to product and business teams; supporting litigation activities, and accessing and maintaining related contract management systems.
  • A key responsibility of the position is to oversee Motorola’s technology licensing activities, including invoicing, collections and royalty reporting.
  • The full time position may be remote.Job Responsibilities:Manage invoicing, collections and royalty reporting for several technology licensing programsManage contract documentation/approval workflows to ensure consistency with internal processes, including providing training to business partners on IP contracting processesAssist teams in reviewing, editing, negotiating and finalizing licensing terms of routine transactional agreements to meet business and legal requirements, including: technology, protocol and API/SDK agreements; video and telecom standard essential patents and FRAND license agreements; consulting and advisory agreements; vendor/OEM/ODM supply agreements; and other technology-related agreementsResearch and respond to general legal inquiries from the business that may relate to contract disputes, product development processes and new business initiativesMaintain, revise and/or update contract templatesProactively develop and maintain technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up-to-date on current trends and best practicesMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Seeking emphasis in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or other telecommunications related disciplines5+ years of full-time experience (university or industry) in technology/intellectual property licensing, technology scouting/assessment, business development and/or contract drafting/negotiation/managementWorking knowledge of patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret lawsExperience drafting and reviewing intellectual property terms of commercial agreementsSpecific Knowledge & Skills::3+ years of experience in corporate transactional, contracts negotiations, and/or commercial transactional experience, preferably with background in technology matters, including software licensing, subscription and hosted environments, telecom, video, governments contracts and or intellectual property within the telecommunications industry, including public safety and video/access securityExperience with finance and royalty payment/collections processesExperience with software licensing, including open source software licensing and complianceExperience with standards setting organizations (SSO), standard essential patents (SEP) and fair, reasonable and non-discrimatory (FRAND) licensing issuesExperience with mergers and acquisitions due diligence processes and acquisition on-boardingExperience with litigation supportExperience managing patent portfolios and/or developing and implementing patent filing strategiesKnowledge of and/or experience with new product development processes, including freedom to operate (FTO) and right to use (RTU) analysisStrong negotiation, consultation, and analytical skillsExcellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment and decision making skillsStrong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills (including written and verbal)Ability to participate and collaborate in meetings with customers, vendors, attorneys, management, and other third parties with regard to negotiation of agreements and general problem solvingWell organized, detail oriented and adept in a fast paced environmentWork with the highest level of ethics and discretionDrive results and execution: Identifies issues and raises them so that appropriate actions can be taken to resolve problems or improve the client experienceThink strategically: Aligns own work with broader business strategies and goals; Stays aware of the business implications of market and industry trendsCollaborates: Ensures understanding of how own role fits into the bigger picture, and works with others to advance individual and team goals; seeks information and other points of view, respectfully listens and considers them, even if they are different from one’s own; and quickly responds to needs and promotes ideas with energy, urgency and personal commitmentTarget Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 USDConsistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity.
