Job Description

As an intern in the IPT maintenance department at the Biotech facility, you will have the opportunity to shadow utility engineers/technicians who are responsible for the operations and maintenance of the clean/cGMP utility systems that support the Biotech facility. This includes the management of systems such as Nitrogen air, Filtered compressed air, Purified water, Water for Injection (WFI), Pure steam, and cleanroom HVAC systems.

On a typical day, their responsibilities will include:

  • Operating, monitoring, and maintaining utility systems, including clean/cGMP utility systems such as Nitrogen air, Filtered compressed air, Purified water, WFI, Pure steam, and cleanroom HVAC systems. They are also responsible for the operation of non-GMP utility systems like chillers/chilled water systems, cooling towers, and fire protection systems.

  • Providing electrical, instrument, mechanical, and utilities engineering support to optimize operational efficiency and reduce maintenance expenses.

  • Taking the lead in instrument calibration, selection, and installation of utilities automation systems.

  • Participating in the development and improvement of PM (Preventative Maintenance) and PdM (Predictive Maintenance) procedures and conducting studies to enhance system performance.

  • Conducting safety risk assessments (RA) and hazard and operability studies (Hazop) to identify potential hazards, risks, and deviations in the utility systems. They then propose appropriate mitigation measures.

  • Performing real-time problem solving (RTPS) and root cause analysis (RCA) and investigating utility system failures, deviations, or incidents. They develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to prevent recurrence.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure timely completion of investigations, CAPAs, and corrective maintenance activities.

  • Maintaining accurate documentation and records of utility systems, including maintenance logs, calibration records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
