Technical Operator- Dispatch

The Technical Operator — Dispatch is an active member of the Dispatch Team who keeps dispatch systems and export workflows reliable, compliant, and efficient through proactive monitoring, rapid fault resolution, and precise execution of start/end-of-day processes.

They oversee order movements for timely, accurate, and compliant shipment dispatch; coordinate resources and handovers; and maintain clear documentation and communication with IT and vendors, while modelling strong safety, integrity, and inclusive behaviour

What you will do:

As Dispatch Technical Operator, you will manage and coordinate the daily dispatch team operations to support the Team Leader in meeting customer and operational goals. Key responsibilities include:

  • Promote a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Maintain dispatch systems uptime; monitor tools; act as primary IT escalation.
  • Provide status at handover; escalate major outages to IT and Team Leader.
  • Oversee order movements to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant export shipment dispatch.
  • Start of Day: print blank orders, allocate staff/work, check trolley dates (FIFO), prepare date
  • reports for Co-ordinator, report absences.
  • End of Day: ensure work completed or clear handover, record end-of-shift KPIs, print blank orders
  • for morning.
  • Support Team Leader; manage shift breaks; coordinate on-call and after-hours.
  • Liaise with IT and vendors; deliver technical status updates.
  • Perform validation/debugging; train and assess team members.
  • Ensure OTD’s are achieved daily.
  • Hold team members accountable for their actions and ensure they meet the required expectations for their respective roles

What You Must have

  • Communication: advanced written/verbal; influence at all levels; clear incident/status reporting; effective IT/vendor liaison
  • Problem solving & execution: strong analytical skills; excellent time management, organisation, attention to detail
  • Technical: dispatch systems admin; network monitoring and basic troubleshooting; validation/debugging; IT security/data compliance; proficient in Word/Excel/Outlook; SAP advantageous
  • Operational: KPI tracking/reporting; work allocation/resource planning; export order movement oversight; disciplined handover/escalation; incident management/on-call; FIFO/date control
  • Leadership & HSE: emotionally intelligent, collaborative leadership; high integrity; promotes strong safety culture and HSE compliance
