Position Summary
Join Sonoco as a Night Shift Fork Truck Driver with Class A CDL in Jackson, TN. Reporting to the Shipping Manager, you'll operate sit-down forklift machinery to lift, load, and move materials. Enjoy a competitive rate starting at $26.42/hr, increasing to $27.42/hr after 90 days and $29.10/hr after 180 days (if qualified), plus $1/hr night shift differential. Work a rotating night shift (7:00pm-7:30am): 3 days on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, with overtime as needed per DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect machinery and assess work areas for safety before operations, taking proper precautions.
- Maintain and repair forklift equipment, logging all procedures.
- Load approximately 20 pallets onto a 48' trailer with roller bed using forklift; drive automatic day cab to customer 10 minutes away; manually unload individual pallets using a hook onto conveyors (average 5-6 loads per shift).
- Support essential logistics through storage, transportation, and equipment repair.
Required Qualifications
- EXPERIENCED forklift driver (at least 2 years) with current or previous certification.
- Valid TN Class A CDL and active DOT medical card (offers contingent on driving record review).
- Previous computer experience; ability to enter/lookup info in systems, read Excel reports, and use RF scanner.
- Physical ability to get on/off forklift and truck repeatedly; work in any climate; lift, push, pull, reach, kneel, carry.
- Must be willing to work overtime on scheduled days off if needed.
