We are currently looking for a Paint Engineer to join our team in Smyrna, TN. The Paint Engineer supports manufacturing, supply chain, and facility operations by assisting with specifying, designing, installing, and supporting communication, control, quality, and monitoring systems in assigned areas. Provides systems modifications as required to support model changes. Assists with specifying, designing, and installing new and modified process equipment in assigned areas. Assists with the maintenance of existing process equipment. Communicates with suppliers to facilitate design changes for new models and material technologies.

A Day in the Life:   

  • Specifies, designs, and installs production and facilities systems in the assigned area; monitors systems and provides modifications as required to improve SQTC performance of current production models or support model changes in the assigned area; provides emergency response to daily manufacturing support problems and supports trial activity for kaizen, new model, and new equipment launch activity.

  • Provides system problem-solving in assigned areas; ensures continuous reliability and uptime improvements to systems in assigned areas; analyzes trends and symptoms, addresses quality and downtime concerns, and provides countermeasures in a timely manner in support of current production or new model launch efforts

  • Assists in the development of Capital and Expense budgets for assigned areas or programs; prepares project folders and conducts model and capacity studies with budget development. Prepares new model manufacturing plans.

  • Identifies, studies, plans, executes, and tracks [M] WTB and TdC implementation ideas for body and plastics painting operations, including benchmarking of other Nissan and OEM plants.

Who We’re Looking for:

Required:

  • 2-5 years of experience with problem-solving, troubleshooting, or similar experience.

  • A four-year degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Technology is required. Equivalency will be considered for internal promotions only, with two years of experience equating to 1 year of education. i.e. Candidates with no degree but having 8 years of experience as a maintenance technician (journeyman level), programmer (engineering or quality), or robot tender/leader in a paint automation zone will meet the minimum educational requirements.
