Job Description

Responds to actual or potential ground or flight emergencies to prevent or extinguish fires and rescue aircraft crew and passengers. Operates and maintains aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicles and equipment. Prepositions emergency vehicles at the scene to apply extinguishing agents as necessary for fire control and/or facilitate self-evacuation of aircraft occupants. Accomplishes Rescue Operations in the event of a mishap. Performs standbys for aircraft operations, including engine runs, fueling and defueling, and all other related aircraft hazardous activities. Personnel are required to meet IFSTA/ NFPA certification for ARFF vehicle operations, current ARFF standards including live Fire Training, CPR and First Aid, knowledge of firefighting principles, procedures and techniques. Understand the proper use and capabilities of extinguishing agents, use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus; aircraft shutdown procedures, techniques both normal and forcible entry, general knowledge of aircraft construction and including fuel, oil and electrical systems. Must have a high school diploma or other equivalent and 2+ years of additional education and/or aircraft firefighting experience. Must have a minimum of 2 years in Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting. Must be a qualified as ARFF vehicle driver/operator. Must pass a firefighter physical. Must have the ability to perform duties and tasking with limited supervision. Must have the ability to meet and maintain all medical requirements. Must have the ability to work occasional overtime. 3 years of ARFF-related work experience 1 year of emergency management experience
