The Nozzle Design Engineer is responsible for designing solid rocket motor nozzles for a variety of high-performance government and commercial programs. This individual will use their engineering knowledge and creativity to develop design solutions that meet technical, cost, and schedule requirements. This role also involves supporting the manufacturing of new and existing nozzle designs in a production environment. Provide accurate, on-time 3D models, drawings, and specifications for next generation nozzle designs Resolve production discrepancies by defining repairs and building robust technical justification Champion technical solutions which meet established requirements and are substantiated by analysis, testing, and history as part of a multi-disciplinary team Conduct and lead trade studies to support development of new systems and improvements for existing systems Define, develop, qualify, and justify design changes to support continuous improvement in production Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering teams during the design, test, and production phases of a project Develop and present technical briefings for internal and external customer design reviews Lead postfire evaluations of nozzle hardware to assess system performance and support post-test analytical modeling Independently work within an integrated product team to receive work assignments and complete deliverables (level 3) Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural) required with 2 years of experience or MS with 0 years of experience Demonstrated experience with problem solving in a team environment Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural) required with 5 years of experience or MS with 3 years of experience Experience with product support in a production environment Familiarity with a CAD software package (NX, Solidworks, Creo, etc.) Strong written and verbal communications skills Exhibits ownership and initiative of assigned tasks Must be a U.S. Citizen. Experience with Siemens NX Demonstrated experience with problem solving in a team environment Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher Current or prior experience with Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems Master's degree in engineering with coursework focused on structural or thermal analysis or material science Experience with Siemens NX and Product and Manufacturing Information Demonstrated experience with technical problem solving Experience providing input into a technical report documenting a design, analysis, or test effort Life Insurance Employee Assistance Programs & Work/Life Solutions Paid Time Off Health & Wellness Resources Employee Discounts This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
