Under limited supervision, the candidate will develop complex dynamic models of launch vehicles, verify model quality, and determine steady and transient launch vehicle responses during liftoff, ascent, and staging. Performing multi-body kinematics simulations for separation events like fairing deployment, staging, and spacecraft separation. Define scope of task, perform analyses utilizing appropriate classical and computer aided techniques, and prepare results for presentations and analysis reports. Contribute to the success of vital defense systems that protect the nation by supporting cutting-edge development of upcoming long-range missile defense interceptors, targets, space launch, and strike vehicles. Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, OR a PhD in STEM with 1 years of related engineering experience Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance In-depth knowledge of vibration theory, structural dynamics, rigid body dynamics, and finite element methods Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher Bachelors or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Proficiency in FEA software, preferably NASTRAN , ABAQUS, or Femap Proficiency in MATLAB or Python Ability to apply fundamental analytical techniques and prepare written analyses Previous experience with launch vehicle coupled loads analysis (CLA) and Craig-Bampton models Experience with modal test, modal analysis, or explicit dynamics/FEA Familiarity with Linux
